FAQ's
when in doubt, ask
How many photographs do you produce in a day?
On average, seven to ten professionally finished images. The exact number depends on the scale and complexity of each space; a bathroom might take under an hour, while a restaurant, spa, or ballroom can require several hours of lighting, styling and composition. The focus is always on quality rather than volume.
Do you charge by the day?
All commissions are quoted per project, based on your brief. Pricing takes into account the number of spaces, the type of imagery required, lighting complexity, and post-production. This keeps costs clear and ensures the work is tailored to your property rather than priced off a standard rate card.
Do you shoot aerial photography?
Yes- I hold a commercial drone pilot licence and regularly shoot aerial imagery as part of a hotel commission. Exteriors, pool terraces, roof gardens, and establishing overhead shots all benefit significantly from an aerial perspective, and having it handled by the same photographer ensures consistency across the full image set.
Do you use additional lighting?
Yes- lighting is fundamental to the work. I use multiple professional light sources to sculpt space, enhance texture, and lift the atmosphere of a room. The intention is always subtlety: artificial light is carefully balanced with natural daylight and existing hotel lighting so the result feels real rather than manufactured. Many of the images on this site were created using up to ten carefully positioned lights, combined in post-production.
How should we prepare before the shoot?
I provide a detailed preparation guide for your team covering housekeeping, engineering, food and beverage, and front of house. Good preparation makes a significant difference to both the efficiency of the day and the quality of the final images.
When will we receive the final images?
Standard turnaround is ten days from the final shoot day. If images are needed urgently for a press release or marketing launch, a selection of four to five images can be turned around within 48 hours- please ask about this when commissioning.
Can we view and approve the photographs before delivery?
Yes. Once post-production is complete, you will receive access to a private online gallery for your team to review. The full image set is released once approved.
What image formats do you provide?
Every project includes three file formats: high-resolution TIFFs for print, high-resolution JPEGs for press and general marketing, and web-optimised JPEGs for digital use. Between them they cover every platform a modern hotel property is likely to need.
What equipment do you use?
Professional medium-format camera systems, selected specifically for each project. These produce large, highly detailed files that allow for precise colour grading, perspective correction, and generous cropping- all of which matter when images need to work across print, digital, and large-format applications.
Do you shoot food photography?
Yes- food is a significant part of the work, both as a standalone discipline and as part of a broader hotel commission. Restaurant and bar imagery is often where a property has the most to gain and the most to lose: good food photography drives covers, poor food photography loses them before a guest has even read the menu.

Do you shoot lifestyle photography?
Yes- lifestyle imagery has become an essential part of how luxury hotels communicate. Selling a feeling matters as much as selling a room, and the two are not always the same thing. I produce lifestyle work both as part of hotel commissions and as a standalone discipline, creating imagery that places a guest inside an experience rather than simply showing them around a building.

Do you have printed portfolios?
Yes. I produce printed portfolios and presentation pieces throughout the year. If you would like one sent to you, just get in touch.

Do you licence your photographs to architects and interior designers?
If you want to use the photographs to promote your business then you will need your own licence to do so- please see the section on licensing here
